Good news and bad news....The power came on several hours ago...wheeeehoooooo!!!! The bad news, I tarped the roof and it's raining now and we have a small leak in the roof so looks like a long night. The tree will be removed Wed. morning and then the long process of contractors etc. Still hanging in there.

My God, what a night. The tarp covered the 3 large holes perfectly but 1 small hole leaked like a college kid after a keg of beer. Had to drag the wet vac into the attic and extend the hose into the mud room bathroom. With the wet vac hose in the large trash can collecting the water, just sat next to it all night fliping the switch every 15 minutes...worked like a charm. Sure glad we got power back or my "tree house" would now have an added pool.

What a shame. You're ready to kill the rain Gods for one reason and we're ready for just opposite. Hope all goes smoothly with the contractors. No luck with the phones up there. Will try later. WW

What an ordeal. Hang in there. Regarding your contrators.... watch 'em like a hawk. We're in the middle of remodeling our master bath, and it's amazing what those jokers can come up with when you're not looking.

Next week, we'll install a hardwood floor in the master BR, and that will complete our four-year remodeling program. After that comes a new deck, landscaping, my new workshop/D's art studio..... But I'd sure rather be looking at that schedule than yours. Mercy.

Finally got an insurance adjuster to the house today and he estimated the damage to be $24,000. They're gonna replace the roof and side the entire house plus replace the 6 destroyed roof trusses. We'll come out better than before the storm but wouldn't wish this on anybody. All's good in Maryland.

Glad the estimate came out your way. Now you've just got the hassle of having contractors under-foot for who knows how long. Here's hoping that goes well, too, and that your insurance company doesn't raise premiums.

To set the stage picture Steve Martin in "The Jerk" jumping up and down announcing the arrival of the phone books...now picture Drew doing the same shouting "The contractors are here, The contractors are here!!!!" Yup they're starting Monday morning for total roof replacement, roof trusses, shingles and then on to siding and finish with gutters and downspouts including gutter guards. tis a wonerful thang!! Good news, Drew! But watch 'em like a hawk. Down here in sunny south Texas, contractors have developed a marked tendency to cut corners when the home-owner's not lookin'.

Yeah, my brother had a house built and had to go out of town on business, and when he got back they had built the roof differant than what was on the plans. They made it up by giving him a free microwave.
