Hello All,

I belong to two forums. One is a Handyman website that has tremendous advice from Carpenters, Electricians, Plumbers, all trades you can imagine.

And I belong to this board, although I don't frequent it as much as I should.

While on the handyman board this morning I came across many posts with fighting and bickering. So disturbing first thing in the morning. So, I wandered over here where I thought it was safe. And Lo' and Behold there is fighting and bickering here as well!

I just don't get it. Espically here. I can understand, as in my other board where they were fighting over the proper way to re-wire a house. Yes, dangerous (if not life threatening stuff) if not done properly.

Ladies and Gentlemen. This is only wine! Every person will have an opinion. Taste in wine is like taste in color - there is no right and wrong answer.

The nastiness that I have seen from Brom and John Moore just isn't necessary. Gentlemen, we are guests here. Until you have 2,000+ posts here, consider yourself as such please.

The people who have made this board and continue to breathe life into it have put thousands of hours into it to get it to where it is today.

I understand that we will have a differing of opinion at times, yet please keep the nastiness out of here.

With all that is going on in the world I like to think of this as a sanctuary. A safe place. If I want nastiness I'll turn on the television or walk out my front door.

Just my humble opinion.

WGC

This board is fairly civil. I have been on some high end audio boards that you need aspestos[sp?] gloves to type your posts.

Yeah, one of the drawbacks of the great freedom-to-all Internet is that people seem to loosen their civility on bulletin boards, knowing full well that those subjected to their boorishness are too far away to take a swing at them...

On a serious note, I see evidence in discourse among us of a great detrioration in civility, not to mention tolerance.

Dear Wine Board Members,

I rarely comment on items like this but as the administrator I feel I should respond.

We know that opinions will differ and often even clash over a subject like wine, which is more art than science.

Over the years our Wine Board Members have been very responsible in their comments and, although we banter and sometimes poke fun, differences in taste and opinion are generally well tolerated. Almost everyone makes an effort to keep the tone of the board friendly and welcoming, especially for newcomers.

This is not the place for self-promotion or product promotion (allowed only in the Advertising/Promotion forum).

The WineBoard is unique for both the expertise offered and the lack of "wine snobbery" that generally prevails. It's a great place thanks to the contributions of many fine people.

Best always,
Jackie

But we like to bicker -- especially if we are wing-whipping the desert rat......
