Once again....1998 Blackstone California Merlot 12% alcohol, medium body, smooooth, upfront fruit with just the right touch of oak. We had tonight with grilled New York strip steaks, baked spuds and grilled veggies (can't get enough), $9.99 at Ronnies in Belair, Maryland. Terrific wine!

Good choice! We like that one, too, with the same foods. It'w worth laying down a few bottles to have on hand.

Drew,
You Rock! Seriously, I went out and bought a bottle of Blackstone and a Fat New York Steak. Heaven. You MUST provide more wine suggestions. The Blackstone is a bargain and the BOMB.

I'd like to take the credit for the Blackstone but Hotwine suggested the wine in a 3/5/00 post. He's the one that ROCKS!!

Unfortunately the Blackstone is one of the football wines around here. The price gets kicked all over the field. As soon as it gets down to nine yard line, I'll grab one.

Broke down and bought one, though not for $9.99. Had it last night with afore mentioned grilled strip steaks. Beautiful, loads of fruit, and a smooth finish earn high grades for this "California" appelation. Mother demanded more than her normal share. Will look out for the $9.99 ones on our trip to Maryland in September.
