1998 Chateau Phelan Segur St Estephe

Saw this wine on sale. Has anyone tried it and is it worth $18.49?

Hi Etreis, and welcome to the Wine Board. The price is right. Be prepared to lay it down for a few years at least. The 1998 vintage for Medoc, of which St Estephe is a part, was not a barn burner. The wines in general are described as more tannic than usual. Usual is pretty tannic. Have enjoyed mature Phelan Segurs in the past, and this one should be nice around 2005 or so.
