Wasn't going to post on this plonque but Hotwine was right about posting good and bad so...dark ruby in the glass. Somewhat closed nose, some dark fruit and earthy scents and an off putting band aid scent. A very medicinal taste reminiscent of childrens cough syrup mingle with some cherry and plum flavors. Vaccu-vined 1 day after a glass and returned today to find the same, no improvement or decay....same ol' medicine. Only good note is I'm out only $7.99! 13%Alc/vol. Funny note is that the '98 label is imprinted with the symbol of Paris 1999 Medaille D'Or.

Thanks, Drew. That's a valuable contribution to our body of knowledge. Jotting a note in the little "wine buys" book as "Dom. Martin CdR = plonque (Drew)". Maybe that little TN will help half a dozen of us make better use of our $7.99.

Plonk from the Rhone; plonk from Bordeaux; plonk from my favorite winery in California. Are we getting picky in our old age, or just getting more discerning?

Probably both, IK. Wouldn't it be nice if wineries would add a little note to their labels: "Caution - Plonk". But nope, we have to spend our hard-earned nickels to find out for ourselves.

Plonk here, plonk there, everywhere plonk-plonk.....

I can drink almost anything and appreciate simple wines. I still have half the bottle of this plonque...that's how bad it is.

Wow. Not even worth including in a sauce of some kind then. Only fit for the drain monster.
