I have invited friends for a glass of wine and a garden tour at 5:30 p.m. They will just be coming from work, weather will be coolish - low to mid 70's. I will offer cheese, crackers, and fruit to eat as well as lemonade. What would be 2 nice choices for wine to sip while touring the garden? Thank you.

A New Zealand or Sancerre (Loire region of France) Sauvignon Blanc or a Riesling as a white wine. (Sauvignon Blanc goes nicely with bleu cheese). A Bogle Merlot or Rancho Zabaco Sonoma Heritage Zinfandel as a red.
These are available for less than $20. The Merlot or Zinfandel should be good with cheddar cheese, Dutch cheeses like Gouda or Edam or other hard cheeses. Answer depends to some extent on what cheeses you are serving.
