I'm trying to find a very sweet wine by Leonard Kreusch that I had last year on my honeymoon. If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it.

Never heard of them. Three German references that I have do not list them. More details?

Bucko,

I searched on Kreusch AND wine on Altavista and found a lot of references. Among others, they produce Zeller Schwarze Katz, Dexheimer Doktor Spatlese and Piesporter Goldtropfchen Auslese.

frausch89,

Your profile says Florida, so you should ask the wine manager at your local shop to look it up for you. Southern Wine and Spirits is a distributor for Kreusch.

Thanks for the search -- nary a mention of them in three books that I have.

Leonard Kreusch is a typical (or perhaps not so typical) bottler of wines. In Germany there are very many smaller vinyard who bottle up a portion, but not being able to compete with the highest qualities or not having the volume for it to make a differance, sell to firms like Kreusch who blend from different vinyards (but not often different grapes).

These wines are often quite good. They may often be "Qaulitetswein met Prädikat", are sometimes even better than QBA wines directly from the vintners but seldom top top quality.

I actually like to browse in the smaller German supermarkets and give these a try - even if we often collect our wines at the sources.

I'm not the authority that some of the pepole pn this group are but I say if you like it buy it, enjoy it and be proud of it.

Leonard Kreusch Inc, Northvale, New Jersey is apparently their American sales agent.

Thanks so far, I found my card with the label info. Specifically, we had Rheinhessen 1996 Spatlese. But I will try Southern Wine and Spirits. If there are any more ideas out there, please get back to me.
