Ludwig Neuhaus 1999 'Teller schwarze katz', Mosel-Saar-Ruwer

TNs: Aromas of citrus blossom? Very light, platinum color w/ gold tones; honey w/ light lemon flavors, which became pleasant green apple flavors with food (our 20-min version of choucroute..used 1/2 cup in the kraut). Mild acidity, little sweetness, clean finish.

Why did I buy this? Well, because it was there, said "qualitatswein" & at $4.00 figured worst case I'd cook w/ it. Not sweet 'nuff to be WW's posterchild for SWs, so what is it..a riesling blend? cp

Doubt is there's a drop of riesling in it; it is just to dear to waste any.

IK is likely correct. My guess is Muller Thurgau.

Well, if Muller-Thurgau, then thank goodness they left out the lychee flavors that are common in Oregon M-Ts ! cp

I haven't met an Oregon M-T that was worth the cheap tasting glass it was put in. Too many people there growing an unspectactular grape.

B, I agree completely. IMO, the Oregon M-Ts I've had weren't worth sniffing from a distance, much less tasting.

However, this whatever-it-is German blend is a pleasant wine...VERY light, VERY subtle, but pleasant w/ or w/out food. cp
