This was a rather nice Rioja. 100% tempranillo. 13.5% alcohol. Nice floral palate and bouquet, with a little christmas spice in the finish. Or, that MAY have been vanilla from the oak. I'm not sure. Didn't blow me away enough to spend $30 on another bottle.

Thanks for the notes. You are right, if it did not blow you away for $30, there are plenty of servicable bottles of rioja to be had at around $20.

It may have just been me, as I believe some of the major wine raters were giving it 93/94. Then again, the other drinkers last night (2 of them with experienced palates) also agreed that it was quite good, but not outstanding.

By the way, this one needed an hour + in the decanter before it started to show its true colors.
