my boss' birthday is on sunday and so far i have bought her a french red (cannot remember the name/year but the salesman said it was very acidic) also, i purchased a triple creme cheese to go with. today, i read an article that suggested a lighter wine or even a champagne for a triple cremem or a brie than the one i have purchased. both the wine guy and the cheese girl said this was a good match...but the article disagrees. what are your opinions? i am a novice and usually just trust the first suggestion i get...i may have been wrong to do so this time. also, how do you all feel about the appropriateness of this gift for a boss (note: i am her assistant). thanks so much

Alot of what is written about wine, and food and wine matches is nonsence. Ideally I would go with a sparkling wine with the cheese, but there is nothing wrong with an acidic red. Pinot noir and sangiovese both go well with creamy cheeses.
