Sweet Wines

Hi,


I am not much of a wine drinker but on occasion I do like to have a glass or two. I was wondering what type of wine would be sweet but also good?

Hi S&S, and welcome to the Wine Board. For a white get any riesling that does not say "Dry" or "Troken" on the label, and does not come from Alsace or Downunder. This includes German Riesling Kabinett, Spatlese, and Auslese; and their Austrian counterparts; as well as any none dry American Rieslings.

For reds, try a Lambrusco from Italy. You might also check out some of the local wineries in Maryland and Pennsylvania. Many of these that I have been to, feature wines from one end of the sweetness spectrum from dry to cloying.

Bully Hill wines of New York, near Hammondsport, produce a wine with 10%RS called Sweet Walter which might fit the bill. I've seen it offered in many Maryland shops. Bully Hill also offers several wines that are semi-dry.
