2004 La Viarti Tocai Friulano

2004 Tocai Fruiliano from northern italy. Sauvignon blanc like in nose, but with a lot more complexity, some malt, some tea. Color was a bit pale gold with a tinge of green. Taste was the same with some sense of nuttiness and a nice floral start which blew off rather shortly. Went very well with some smokey procuitto. $15.99 from Kermit Lynch.

I very much enjoyed that bottle and was gonna go back to Kermit Lynch for more (my cross country shopping trips are a source of amusement for my collegues).

I also have the Ribolla Gialla from the same maker and am looking forward to that one too!

Ribolla Gialla, ENG, now you are talking. That is a most wonderful grape variety, and sometimes it can offer great depth.

I don't know that producer; only hope the RG is a good representation.

I don't remember the replacement name for TF; I'm sure you can find it on the Web somewhere. The word "tocai" has the Hungarians up in arms...

The Tocai Pinot Gris in Alsace will have to change its name too.

Of course, the changes will come after the appeals and the spin are exhausted.
