Have been noticing price creep by even my discounter on Barbera d'Alba juice lately. Picked up some Parusso at $18.99 yesterday, a couple of bucks more than expected. Or is it just my imagination? Could be the Euro vs the greenback....

Earth to Hotsie:

Eight months ago one Euro cost 88 cents

Today it is $1.17

That is over a 25% differential....

Your price went up 12%, someone ELSE is eating the difference. Having said that, we can get you some great Barbera for low teens and NOW even law abiding citizens like you can have shipments....

Hell, yesterday I paid $440 and change for E345 in return. First time I felt like we really are in economic straits...

Yet, we too have access to some Barbera D'Alba at below or near $15.

Finally tried the Parusso "Ornati" last night, with mozzarella and basil pizza. A beautiful Barbera, the best we've had, as floral on the nose as a Fleurie with glorious fruit and a long finish. Infanticide to kill this little '00 so soon, but its twin probably won't survive the next batch of lasagna. Worth the price, with 13% ABV. They have a Website at www.parusso.com.

Gee, I wish I could drink $19 wine with my pizza! I just had caffeine free Diet Pepsi with mine!

A nice wine can elevate even a poor meal to the sublime. Burgers with $40 Zin is another favorite. But it helps in this house to not tell the Chancellor of the Exchequer just how much some of this juice costs!

We switched from Pepsi One to Diet RC a few months ago. It was a good change.

just can't get into the diet drink thing. Started drinking Coke when I was on the overnight shift at the hospital and haven't been able to make myself switch.
