1999 La Rasina Brunella de Montalcino

Yesterday at lunch at the club BRW and I were handed a taste of this bodacious brew. Naturally Nate the Mgr. was really enjoying himself as he knew we had no ideer what the blazes it be. With my Italian knowledge at about 10 on the scale I really hoped it would turn out to ba a nicely aged Bordeaux but NO!,it was a lovely thingie I had no info on except it had everything a fine wine needed...Lovely nose, supple tannins, fruit and tertiaries out the patootie and a 4&3/4ths lapper finish. When we were told the dist was giving them an almost 50% discount we asked how much they had. Seems there were 2 cases so BRW and I took dead aim. At 51.99 a clatter it was a gone goslin.Will keep youse informed but doubt this hummer can get enny better. WW

Guess it would be nice to know which of the 83,612 vineyards in Montalcino this bugger came from....Estate bottled by Marco Mantengoli. So there!!!!!

Sounds like you know a bit about La Rasina, WW. They're a really small place - only about 3000 cases, but they've figured out the magic. Their wines are beautiful, softer, very aromatic Brunellos. We had a rep for them in who said if you traveled to Italy, they have a place on the property where they put up guests - like you could get Connie to sit in a plane for that long.
