La Spinetta Pin Monferrato Rosso 2000

Nicely done even though the fruit was very forward. A mix of Barbera, Nebbiolo and Cabernet Sauvignon, though the Cab dominated this one at the front and the Nebbiolo took over at the end.

A nose of cherries, chocolate, cedar
A full weight and medium to full body wine, good structure with nicely smooth tannins. Nebbiolo took over at end with a hit of a coffee finish. 14% alcohol.

The Italians are doing some nice things with blends. I've commented on the Vicara Rubello which blends Barbera and small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon.
