Hello to all I'm new to wines, I would like some inputs on some good Semi-Sweet Red dinner wines something light.

Hi Walt, and welcome to the Wine Board. Since you are on the Italian thread, I guess that's what you want. Look for a Lambrusco. There are better ones than the ubiquitous Reunite, for an only slightly higher price.

If you can use an American wine, look for a local retailer who handles wines from your native New Jersey wineries. Almost all Midwestern and Eastern producers make wines both red and white across the sweetness spectrum.

Walter and Massimiliano were on a spiritual quest with this wine: they wanted to literally bottle the source of all of the gifts of Mother Nature in their zona, the huge, warming, life giving Mediterranean Sun! A blend of Barbera, Merlot and Sangiovese, this is incredibly rich with a slight sweetness balanced by firm tannins and we could imagine it enlivening anything from a plate of Gorgonzola and dried figs on the deck to Tandoori Chicken, serious red sauce BBQ or even Blackened Red Fish.


Other similar bottlings are made throughout southern Italy (and the Ukraine, Moldavia and Armenia!) so ask around at better wine shops (OR got to the most traditional Italian deli with a wine license you can find and they may have something in JUGS for you). Tell them you are looking for a Rosso Amabile (ah-mah-bih-lay).
