Just bought the 99 Burgundy (a Valentine's gift for my wife). Anyone have any info on it or the winery?

My wife and I last visited this chateau in 1994. It is about 3 kilometers from Beaune.Chateau De Pommard is one of the,if not the, largest remaining undivided estate,50 acres or 20 hectares, of all the great growths of Burgundy. The proprietor is Jean-Louis Laplanche.

The chateau suggests that to truly appreciate their wine one should wait a minimum of 5 to 7 years before popping the cork. For example we drank our 78s in 93 and they drank beautifully. In 94 we purchased 4 bottles of their 89 and still have 2 left to drink.

Thanks for the info -- esp. the advice on how long to wait before opening.

Winepoppi - Good thing you didn't drink all four bottles or there would be four posts from you instead of two........
