1999 Volnay 1er cru Taillepieds - Bouchard

Last night, had a bottle of Bouchard Pere & Fils's 1999 Volnay "Taillepieds." Elegant, with blackberries and violets, and very suave.

Drank it with roast squab in a red onion and white wine sauce.

Sounds like a good meal and nice wine. I am partial to Volnays.

Sounds very nice. I should explore Volnay a bit more, but I'm limited in Atlanta with a generally poor selection, for some reason. There are wider and better choices with Cote de Nuits and Cote de Beaune around here, so that's where I've explored a bit more. Oh, and Pommard, too.

I have not tried that one. I have been trying to find some smaller winery Pinots, without much luck, but I did find one from Oregon. Bridgeview, Blue Moon, 2002.

Has anyone tried it?

Don't like to be a wet blanket but I don't think I liked that one very well. The Volnay is a Burgundy so would be imported from France. I haven't shopped for wines in Orlando but Cavanaugh's Fine Wines says they have mostly European wines and carry 1200 different wines so you might give them a call if you would like to try a Volnay (check prices and year--they may cost more than you care to spend and probably a 2002 would be your best current vintage.
