2005 M. Lafarge Volnay

We went to another restaurant in Paris, Another Michelin rated one called Bistro D'A Cote from Michel Rostaing. Wonderful service as would be expected, strange interior decoration, with what appears to be many beer steins [img]/ubb/smile.gif[/img]

Meal was fab, the Foie Gras and Escarots made great starters (but at $45 each, they'd better...). the meals were equally good and went well with the wine of the night, a M. Lafarge Volnay, which we asked to be decanted when we walked in (about 1.5 hours before dinner). Still, very tight as you would have guessed, highly structured, good acidity, floral nose, but very restrained, definitely needed food to go with this wine, Good density without thickness in the wine.

I just ordered some 2006 Lafarge Volnay from Woodland Hills Wine Company (along with a bottle of Lafarge Beaune Greves and three bottles of a California Chardonnay from Durrell Vineyard) which I will be picking up after work from the UPS facility near Fayetteville Airport. I will rest the bottles for a few weeks before opening any. I hope these Volnays also have a floral nose.
