Finally had a Bordeaux that really rolled my sox down. '99 De Pez is a Mo-Fo: A bit of Roberto's semi-mythical "ass" on the nose, frank, lush blackberries, cherry syrup, raspberry pie, clove, tar and burnt sugar on the tongue, underpinned nicely with clean gravelly tinge and beef blood with baseball mitt. Came off almost like a big Rhone Syrah, in fact. I bet the guy who made this was pelted with rotten tomatoes by his neighbors for being a gauche Amerophile. This is a KICK-ASS wine.

Haven't had the 99 but have a box of the 2000. I'll open one soon. I drank my last 82 from this nice St. Estephe over a year ago. Was told that since Roederer took over this property yhe quality has been booted up a couple of notches. Always considered Les Ormes de Pez superior.WW
