2000 Chateau Teynac

After all the chores today, thought that I owed myself so I opened up a moderately priced Bordeaux (about $20 for half bottle).

It was quite nice. Color was a dark ruby and the nose was inviting with strong oak and some hints of berries. On tasting, it was a bit spicey and the berries came through. The tannis were not as big as those of other 2000 Bordeaus. It had a nice medium length finish (Wine site says 60:40 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, matured 14 months in oak).

Have had some nice surprises from this fine St. Julien property. Have some 2000 resting comfy/cozy in the cellar. WW

St Juliens are real stand-outs in '00 IMO. Haven't been disappointed in one yet.

Purchased another bottle and had it with dinner tonight. Still a great bottle and the tannins are receding noticeable...perhaps its the storage here at the store. A bit more acid at end than I remember. Perhaps it was the food that I had it with, BBQ ribs :0

I was travelling with a colleague and he was suppose to get dinner and I was suppose to get the wine. We were looking at a long night putting a few projects together....he was suppose to get sandwiches and I was suppose to get a Zin......... Ended up with bbq ribs and the aforementioned bordeaux..........

Sometimes I wonder how we ever get any of our projects done........

Been a while since I've pulled this one. It took a bit of air to wake this up.

But once up, it was again a nice happy wine. Everytime I drink this I want to pack my bags and run to the airport and head to Paris..... Wood is integrating nicely and the fruit has not subsided at all. nice drink...I wish I had a few more.

Opened one of these tonight, it's been a few years so I thought that I would see how it's been. Just had ham sandwich and salad for dinner so this was perfect. Medium bodied and a bit straight forward. Good balanced and just starting to show some secondary notes, mellowing out though still mostly fruit and old oak on show with some tobacco in the background. that plus a tv remote and it was a good dinner.
