Yeah, found it in the March issue of the Speculator. They gave it a 90 with words like "very perfumed...light wet earth ... full-bodied... rich and generous.... best after '07." I'd better snag a few.

Couldn't resist testing one last night with grilled NY strip, baked spuds and steamed brocolli, finished with dark chocolates.

I generally agree with WS on the TN. Decanted two hours while I prepared the fire and grilled the BEEF. Perfumed nose and entry, very light fruit hidden in a bit of damp earth, adding complexity as the meal progressed, with a lonnnnggg finish. Fun to roll this sucker around with the tongue to let the flavors emerge. 13% alc, $25 and change; well worth it. She says to buy more.... but didn't specify the number of cases....

Decided to pop one last night to accompany a 32 oz. ribeye grilled over oak with mixed veggies (lil' taters, tiny carrots, 'shrooms, onions) to celebrate our 34th anniversary. Poured the wine two hours before dinner but didn't decant. Same notes apply but it's still young; a very, very nice St Julien with a long life ahead of it.

The steak was from a pair of USDA Choice ribeyes I bought at Costco for about $26.50. Gorgeous chunks of cow! Had half of one last night, will have the second half tonight, and still have the second steak in the freezer to cook much later. Love it.

Thanks, guys. She still has her sense of humor.

WD, I don't have any of the '00 Talbot, just the '01 and '05.

Foodster, you've got a congrats coming.

We did the deed on Halloween... for no other reason than it was between TDYs and we had eloped to Europe. Kind of hard for even me to forget the date.

Popped one tonight to pair with her beef stroganoff; very very nice. The nose alone puts me in la-la land. Should confine my purchases of Bdx to St Julien.... never disappointed.

Have pulled several lesser (last growth) Bdx over the past couple of weeks to share with guests who wouldn't know Bordeaux from Boudreax's hair tonic; just haven't bothered to post on them.... wholly forgettable.
