1995 Frazier Napa

Found a couple of these I'd forgotten about in the cellar and didn't have in inventory. Have no idea who, what, where, or when this juice were bought.All that's on the bottle is the name W.H. Frazier and the usual cellared and bottled by in Oakville.Will look up this supplier as this was a kick-arsenic bottling. Medium deep purple with plums, cassis, bakers cocoa, cinnamon, and loads of both red and black fruits in the nose and in the mouth. Must have been a part of a purchase at St. Helena Wine Merchants as they would put stuff in my boxws and on the bill. Guessing this was in the 30-40 range and outstanding quality to match. Just found "Lupine Hill Vineyard" on the label. Will do more slouthing. 91/???ww

ww, "cellared and bottled by" will make it near impossible to find out its pedigree. Good luck!

Looks like their Lupine Hill is a special bottling.

If it says "cellared and bottled by" on the label, that winery did not produce the wine; it was bought in bulk.

WW, I tried Frazier 2001 "barrel sampling" and was impressed. They're on the eastern end of Napa Valley. You're the one that told me you had bought several vintages and that it was a reliable producer. I went ahead and bought two bottles of the 2001 as futures from Macarthur's Beverages (Bassin's) at $50 per for the 2001 (it's now selling at over $60 I believe). Maybe they were the bottler and not the grower for the wine you found in your cellar but I'm glad it was tasty anyway. Bodes well for my 2001s.

L.I.B. Looking at my cellar lists I find notes on the 96, 97 and 99 and half a box of each cellared. Haven't bought or seen the 2001 yet. The memorys' the 2nd thing to go! First of the 95s' I encountered. My guestimate of where it came from was probably rite on, as looking at the origins of where I bought the other vintages show SHWM.

WOW, the difference I am trying to convey is: the term that ww says is on the label indicates that the winery had nothing to do with growing or making the wine, just bottling it.

Foodster I'm sure WOW understood that and the comments were made to jog what memory the weener has left. What really confused me was the fact the wine wasn't on my invetory. I'm used to finding bottles I didn't think I had but they are always on my inventory and I just made an entry error. What Foodie is trying to get across is that if the words " Estate Bottled or "Produced, cellared and Bottles by" is not on the label the vineyard bought the juice ready for bottling and the real producer is a mystery.
