I picked up a bottle of 2003 Avalon a couple of days ago. It came highly recommended by the proprieter. He told me that the producer buys overages from various Napa wineries, then blends it. Every year the mix is different, so you never know where the exact wines/grapes are coming from, but they are all supposed to be from Napa.

Anyone ever tried this one?

Yes, I tried it last year, on recommendation. I must say, for my tastes, I find other $10+ Cabs more intriguing than this. Not bad in the least, but not my fav either.

Hi Beren. If you go back a year on the Cab thread you'll find lots of action on this value bottler. WW

I just opened this. Not bad at all. A little tannic, maybe could use another year in the bottle, but a solid cab with backbone. Dark berry flavors abound; cherries, blueberries, blackberries, and just a touch of something else-- leather.

I give it 4 out of 5 figs on the figgy scale.
