I've had the previous vintages and they were all a great value, but the 05 is simply OUTSTANDING. If I was to taste blind I would guess it was a $50-75 bottle. Super rich and refined with fruit aplenty. Reminded Maryann and I of Phelps regular bottling. $10.

i am truly looking forward to the '04 and '05 bottlings from california. i know first-hand that the '04 barrel samples in napa and sonoma were wonderful. and i've been hearing from winemakers that '05 is producing remarkable wines. i'll look for the mcmanis immediately, as i really enjoyed the '02. (but i learned that this is a drink-on-release wine. after a year or so, the fruit seems to fade and the oak expand.)

I'm a McManis alcoholic and stop! Was it really that good?

You have to forgive Ze Inspek-i-tor for his stuttering keyboard. Interpreting for him, what he said was " I love the Mc. And tell me the skinny....Is it really that good????"

Was delayed but picked up my boxes yesserday and agree that this sucker is one mouth-full for the money. Has a deep black plum note that's sexy. The only fault I could find was a slightly short finish that in no way detracts from it's inherent slupper-drinkability. 89-90/93. 8.99 at me friendly pushers. WW

Snagged a couple of bottles today for $9.99 and popped one just an hour ago. Beautiful wine but the deeeeeep, complex mid palate is the winner in this wine and I agree, Verne, a shortish finish but the midpalate is worth all that and a bag of chips.... Tiss a little soft and probably won't go but 3-4 years but a great deal!

Found it! Found it! Found it! After searching in some of the largest liquor stores in NH as well as some in ME, MA, and NY, finally found it in Wolfboro for $9.99 (normally $11.99). It is all you above have claimed. Got to be the best Cab at this price point.

It held up to and braced up lamb steak marinated in mint and lemon, along with rolls, and eggplant salad. Yum!!!!!!

finally found a bottle of the '05 at my local ridiculously-over-priced-for-wine gourmet grocer. i think this definitely nears the boundary of my oak tolerance (which is diminishing year by year), but i really enjoyed all the spicy fruit and its silky mouthfeel. at the $17.99 i paid, this would have been only an O.K. value in my book. think i've tracked some '05 down locally at the $8.99 per it should be. if so, this will be a case purchase.

but definitely drink these in the next year or so; they are for immediate gratification, not even short-term cellaring. recently discovered four bottles of the '02 vintage in the back of my wine locker and they were so tired as to the point of being undrinkable. ended up pouring out the open bottle and tossing the rest.

Had another as desert after a 90 Bordeaux and a 99 Opus. Tasted like candy and went well with strawberry shortcake. YUM!!!

really great cab flavor, a bit much vanilla/oak for my tastes, but really nice... I paid $10.99, if I can fine it at $8.99 I'll get 1/2 case...

GAD, just noticed your note about the 1990 Bordeaux and 99 Opus. What were your impressions of these wines? Did someone else provide them to you?

Posted on the Opus I brought in the cab area. Can't recall what the Bordeaux was as it was a family members contribution. Had another McManis this weekend. Can't seem to get tired of it.
