1999 Nicholas Catena, Alamos, Cabernet Sauvigon, Mendoza ($9). Found this while looking for more of their wonderful malbec. It is a very nice summer hamburger wine. Not a lot of varietal character, but a jammy red for easy drinking.

I picked up the 2001 vintage of this wine at World Market the other week for $9.99. I had never tried an Argentina wine, so I thought I would give it a try. This was definatly not and easy drinker. Had it with serloin steaks cooked over charcoal and mesqutie chips. I do not realy know how to describe the wine except to say it was rather harsh. No jammy fruit to mention in this one. I do not know if it was the vintage or if the wine was cooked.
