Im new at this wine stuff. Actually im in college right now at Johson and Wales and I have a project to do. I was hoping that someone might be able to help me in matching wines to food, particularly seafood, clams, mussels, tropical fish, lobster,... I also would like the wine to be from Florida or some other tropical type region. Thank you

Hi me123 and welcome to the board. I certainly hope you mean that you want to be able to PURCHASE the wines in Florida as the only wines that would actually come from grapes grown in Florida or " a tropical climate " would come from someones basement.WW

..point is, me123, grapes don't do well in tropical climates. For those seafood dishes you need some clean, crisp white wines, unless you choose to smother the seafood in heavy sauces.

There are grape wineries in Florida. One such that I have been to is Dakatah Vineyards, in Chiefland, FL. Not the best, and not the worst. Would not describe their whites as crisp. I do have a nice tee shirt from there that says: "I've spent most of my money on wine and women. The rest I've just wasted."
