A phone call from Obama --- seriously

A COOL THING HAPPENED! My nephew, who is serving in Afghanistan in the Army, received a personal phone call from President Obama on Thanksgiving Day. I posted a message here a few months back about an incident where Shaun spotted a suicide bomber and saved the lives of a lot of soldiers (including his own). He was wounded and received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Medal of Valor. Then he was selected to receive a call from the President on Thanksgiving Day....

Obama thanked him for his sacrifice. I understand he called two people from each branch of the service -- Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines. And my nephew was selected. Whatever you think of Obama, it is definitely cool to get a call from the President of the United States.

Fantastic Jackie, you have a nephew to be proud of. And in cases like this pride is not a sin!

Thanks. I am very proud of him. His mother (my sister) passed away at only 52. She would be so proud and happy for him. Shaun believes his mom is looking out for him over there. Now there's a thought. I have a hard time believing such things but I am glad he does. Either way, I'll take it. As long as he is safe. He is due to get out there in April, I think. Sooner would be better.

Congrats first of all for having a nephew like that. He is a tribute to his family and those that serve with him. Then getting a call from POTUS is quite the deal. Well deserved in my opinion!
