I lost 100 bottles of wine in a fire recently, years ranging from 1882 to 1998. I am trying to determine the market values of each for insurance purposes. Are there any wine experts that offer their services for this kind of situation?

Hi Funke, and welcome to the Wine Board. We are very sorry to hear about your loss. If the wines you lost are available at retail, even some older ones, you can get prices at www.wine-searcher.com. Hopefully the 1882 was something like a Madeira, for which there is an active market. You can also check e-bay and winebid.com. If you still can't find answers, please come back here to check on individual bottlings.

Hi Funke and welcome to the board even under this terrible condition.Think you may have done a "weenie-finger" on the 1882 and meant 1982 which was a great year in bordeaux. If you can't find pricing that is pertinant, come back with your E-mail address and I'll see if I can't help. WW
