2003 Tobin James, Fatboy, Zindandel, Paso Robles ($48 list, came with Spring '06 shipment). Alcohol level: 16%! Fat, big, bold, in your face, and overwhelming. Still, we both loved it. It was not only huge, but remarkably well balanced. We did not notice the alcohol till early bed, but no heat at all.

Matched it with sirloin steak sauteed in EVOO and Morton rub, Bordeaux rolls, and salad.

We popped the '04 with Thanksgiving dinner yesterday. The description fits that of the '03 to a tee. Shared with Bev, and son-in-law to spread out the horsepower. Daughter took a sip and loved it, but we didn't let her (a non wine drinker) have any more!

Matched very well with our dinner of roast turkey, herb filled corn and chestnut dressing, candied sweet potatoes, sautéed green beans, potato bread, and cranberry sauce. No mere Riesling would have held up to that!!!

Had 2 8 lb turkey breasts, one injected with Tony Cacherra cajun spiced butter and the other with Swansons' fat-free chicken broth, garlic mashed potatoes, oyster infused dressing, green-bean casserole, anf finished up with walnut and blue-berry topped cheese cake. Washed that stuff down with some 02 Scherrer O&M, Shale Terrace and the Marietta lot 47 Old Vine Red.Keen stuff and I aced the breasts with a little wrinkle that I improvised. Took plain old white bread, soaked it in chicken broth then stuffed them in the cavity under ther breast. Have NEVER had as moist or as delicious turkey as them suckers. Need to copyright the process. Feel free to use it at no charge.(gtiggle, snort) ww

We popped the '06 Fatboy with our New Year's dinner last night. As usual it was a crowd pleaser. The alcohol has dropped to 15.4% thankfully. It still drinks without a hint of heat.

We matched it with baked ham, sweet potatoes and green beans. Zin and ham make a nice combo IMHO.

What happened to the '05 you may ask? Records show we had it for Thanksgiving '09, but apparently was too wasted to post on it.

The '07 was our first Thanksgiving wine again this year. Fantastic wine as usual. It didn’t last long enough for our whole meal as before. We had to back it up again with a Rosenblum California Cuvee XXXIII. It was a great day for four red wine drinkers and great food as well.

Nice. I find that the fatboy is quite the crowd pleaser too.

2008 tonight. This has become our go to wine for Thanksgiving. We serve the best wine first as opposed to Cana! It was backed up with a 2010 Cline California Zinfandel. The Fatboy seemed even better than ever. Just a bunch of luscious fruit; what more could a person want. As usual we smoked a turkey (18 lbs this time, for six hours). All the rest of trimmings and gravy demanded a big red as usual.

2010 tonight. Just as nice as ever. No change in horsepower. We matched it with broiled lamb chops, baked sweet potatoes, and eggplant salad. Yum!
