- ramses21 - 12-01-2000 What winery(s) consistantly produce the best Oregon Pinor Noirs? - chittychattykathy - 12-01-2000 Several, IMHO. WillaKenzie-Pierre Leon, Rex Hill-Reserve, Witness Tree-Vineyard, Cristom, Sokol Blosser-Redlands, and more...... Also, for a nice Pinot bargin, Flynn. (I am really into the Cooper Mnt. pinot gris right now as well.) - barnesy - 12-01-2000 I will second CCK's Cooper Mt. Pinot Gris rec. Cooper mountain also has some nice Pinot noirs. Barnesy - winoweenie - 12-02-2000 CCK, have had the Rex Hill and Cristom and agree whole-mouthedly. Haven`t heard of the Flynn. I`ll have Suzie or Jock at Sportsman check and see if it`s in our fair state. Tanks fer` the tip.winoweenie - Bucko - 12-02-2000 I have been underwhelmed by Witness Tree and Cristom, personally. Belle Pente and St. Innocent remain my favorites, with Thomas a close second. Bucko - chittychattykathy - 12-03-2000 Bucko, (Now I know what (else) not to bring for sure if ever honored by an invite to your house. ) St. Innocent= very nice. This Thomas, I do not know, please... do tell!!! - winoweenie - 12-03-2000 Oh for the SHAME of it Bucko. CCK has NOT been invited to your domicile? If`n that lil` sweetheart lived in Phoenix you can bet you bazongas it`d be Miramae and CCK doin` the tastin` and Jim doin` the babysittin`. winoweenie - Bucko - 12-03-2000 Thomas winery is owned and operated by a pharmacist who only makes wine in good years. Otherwise, he sells off his grapes. I went to a cellar orphan party, tried a 1988 Thomas and was blown away. I asked Bruce about the wine, got on the mailing list, and have been purchasing them for several years. Hammacher is another small, quality winery, but I always try before I buy, because they have had a couple of so-so wines. Another winery that I frequently purchase from is Springhill. They also make lovely Pinot Noirs. Bucko - ddf68 - 12-04-2000 Willakenzie, Elk Cove, St. Innocent. For a bigger (and sometimes oaky) style Archery Summit and Panther Creek are good, though expensive. ddf - Scoop - 12-06-2000 Broadley is an excellent producer, too, especially their Reserve. Cheers, Scoop - ramses21 - 12-06-2000 I enjoyed all your responses. Quite a differenc of opinion, but thats what makes the grape go round. Of the wineries I'm familiar with, I like Chehalem, Elk Cove, Hammacher and Ponzi; particularly their reserves. Again, thanks for the input. - chittychattykathy - 12-07-2000 WW, aw shucks! & Yee, the Broadley is nice, and so well priced. |
