Anyone score any of the Barton or Poyferre before WS blew up the spot? My local store just quoted me on the Leoville Barton at $189/bottle. I had a hardy laugh at that but am still looking. Didnt know if anyone had any barrel or bottle tastings to corroberate the recent reviews.

Yup, I have one bottle of the 2003 Leoville Poyferre that I ordered as futures at $59.99
(also 2 bottles of the 2002 Leoville Poyferre and 3 bottles of the 2002 Leoville Barton.) Looks like the one bottle of '03 Leoville Poyferre was the only '03 Bordeaux I ordered.

I have a case of the 2003 Barton on order for just under $80 per bottle. But that was a year ago.

The price to us now (wholesale in MA) is about twice what WS shows in their latest rag.

Just my opinion, but I'd strongly advise trying 2003s before buying. It was an extremely hot year and many of the wines I've tried are not for me -- too hot, too jammy, or downright raisined.

Few 03s will be going in my cellar, and certainly not at inflated prices. That is just insanity.

Thanks Bucko,

Been following your advice (and your trip)about the 2003 and have kept my purchases to just one case. Purchased a few bottles of burgundy just to try (totally atypical) and only one from the Rhone.

Hoping that Barton lives up to his reputation of making good wines in poor vintages....for $80 a pop...

Eng, Good price on the Leoville Barton. Our wholesale price from the distributor is about twice that now. We have a futures program, and those who order through that route are much happier now, than those who want in at current prices.

I managed to find a 00 Barton and am anticipating trying it. I did see a 03 for $67 on winehotel.com but then when I called (next day) they said it was gone and so was their web entry for it. Of all the luck!
