  • 2005 d'Arenberg "The Stump Jump"

We picked up an '09 in the sale bin at our super market for $7.75! We did not know how long it had been sitting there at fairly high temps, but gave it a chance. We unscrewed it tonight and matched it with thick broiled lamb loin chops, green beans almandine, and pilaf made with almond oil in the bottom and beef stock on top. Wine and food were both excellent. The wine might have been moved along with the extra heat. It has received some excellent reviews, but has been described as still closed. This one wasn't.

  • For a GREAT 2009 bordeaux under $25, there are a few, I would do Chateau Les Grands Chenes which I paid $19 a bottle. It is compelling Bordeaux, their first (and i think only bottling) and it should please the masses as well as the bordeaux buffs.
