Serious Offers only please.

Dom Pérignon Vintage 2006, Bjork and Chris Cunningham find an incarnation in the limited edition sets in honour of the 2006 vintage Champagne

A limited edition from Dom Perignon Bjork & Chris Cunningham
Dom Pérignon Vintage 2006.

Tasting notes, The Wine Advocate, 96 points
The 2006 Dom Pérignon comes from a very rich vintage with an early ripeness that brought a lot of aromatic maturity. The white-golden prestige cuvée contains a bit more Chardonnay than Pinot Noir and opens with a deep and seductive, pretty accessible nose with intense yet fresh fruit aromas of pineapples, with peaches and tangerines. Lively and elegant on the palate, this is a full-bodied, unusually aromatic and fruity DP with a long and tension-filled expression.

During a visit at Dom Pérignon in Hautvillers in March this year, I tasted the three recent vintages of the prestige cuvée plus the often-underrated 1998. Along with the Dom Pérignon Rosé 2004, it was the most fascinating cuvée of the tasting that was as spiritual as it was adequate with regards to the history of the human Dom Pérignon.

I kind of stumbled into the world of wine collecting by accident, and have no real context so haven't been watching the market as I'm brand new to the idea of collecting vintage wines.

But I stumbled onto a fascinating documentary on Netflix: Sour Grapes, about the wine fraudster named Rudy Kurniawan. I'm guessing when this guy was uncovered it must have had a really big negative impact on wine values and collecting in general. Is this true? Has anyone ever bought any of the expensive wines at auction that he may have produced? Has anyone seen the documentary - if not I highly recommend it.

For your view pleasure or displeasure.

"38 Years Between Drinks". Oil on fine cotton duck. 61 x 43 cm.

This painting was inspired by several rather remarkable events. The Golden Ox Restaurant in Redcliffe (Queensland Australia) was where I got my first job as a wine waiter way back in 1978. The owner gave me a reference which assisted me in getting a job as a flight steward with Qantas. After an absence of 38 years my mum told me that she had organised a get together lunch at the Golden Ox. Unbelievably when I walked in after 38 years, not only was the restaurant still going strong, Nick and Virginia Tzimas still owned and worked in the restaurant. This feat must surely put the Golden Ox and the Tzimas family among a unique group of restaurateurs.

To celebrate this incredible milestone I painted "38 Years Between Drinks". I took the original logo on one wine glass and the newer logo on the other. One empty glass and one full to signify the coming together of a long, long relationship.

While cleaning out my late grandfather's cellar, I came across this old and opened bottle of Sauternes. The label says 1934. Other writings on the label are "Maison fondee en 1739", "Mis en bouteille dans nos caves", "Negociants Bordeaux France". There is a stamp on the upper left hand corner of the label stating that the wine was purchased at J.D. Krueger, 123 So. Ferry St., Schenectady, NY. I'm sure that address is no longer valid due to roads being built but this was in the old Stockade area of Historic Schenectady, NY.

The contents is very dark and the cork is covered in mold.

Just wondering if the bottle itself was of any value.

I can take a picture of it if anybody's interested. I know one thing...
I don't plan to sample the contents!
