Just ordered and received a case of reds from Tobin James (Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Zinfandel), and a mixed case from Knapp. Also picked up a couple of Italians in Portland. So we a set for summer.

Incidentally we went to the new Trader Joes in Portland. The first time either of us had been in one. Fantastic! We picked up a nice looking Ripasso for $9.99! Will report on it later. Also dropped another $85 on bargains! Have never seen such diversity in frozen foods including Indian, Philippino, and others.

It's been a while since I've been over to Knightsbridge area...I'm not sure why....It's not like it's far away, but frankly the old Harrod's wine shop was less than attractive. I mean nice bottles but tight spaces and limited selections for the less than millionaires in us.

I know it was renovated since about Christmas of last year. Wow what a change. So much more space, so much more choices, so much much better! They took over the pharmacy area and almost the entire basement area is now used for wine (the old tapas restaurant area is still there.

Much better by country selection with a nice cross section between great expensive bottles to great more mid level (say 40-60 GBP). Nothing is really cheap except for some private label stuff. Modern airy feeling.

Lots of large formats and loads of the right names. The only area that I find very very short is Germany. Short on names and selection. Also not much to the other less known areas such as Greece, Cyprus, etc,.. and the US selection is very limited to just the very high end products (Scarecrow was listed for 800 GBP!!!)

Nice staff, good knowledge. I will definitely return.

Been traveling all over the US for wine events and to promote Wines.com. In the process I went to a bunch of retail outlets and found the following to have exemplary service and prices:

Tampa: Bern's Wines and Spirits and a ridiculously great steakhouse

Miami (Beach): W Wine Boutique

Los Angeles: Hi Time, KL Wines

Chicago: Just Grapes

New York: Park Avenue & Sherry Lehmann (good service, prices are standard). Saratoga Wine Company has really good prices.

Houston: Spec's

Dallas: Siegel's

Will report more as my travels allow me to...

Stuck out in Vancouver today, moving to Victoria soon (like in 15 minutes... )

When in Vancouver, I'll hit a Liberty wine store which is a specialty retailer that has thrived even with the provincial massive stores all over the provice. They got some nice stuff, a bit higher in price, but their staff know their stuff. Picke up some local BC okanaga stuff that I've become increasing attracted to. Le Vieux Pins' PN's and Popular Grove (no meritage this time but I pick up some cab franc). Will post soon.

On the way to your Missouri place, stop by Bon Vivant wines in Columbia, IL.
It's about 20 minutes from St Louis City.
A very small store, but an incredible selection of good, interesting wines and good prices.
The store is tiny, yet they manage to have 3 different Bierzos for instance. I was very impressed.

I walked out with the Vouvray I posted on under Loire, a Bierzo, a Foillard single site Morgon that looks killer, and a Montsant I can't wait to try. None of the 4 have I seen in St Louis.
