This version of the wines seems a bit too light for, but the acidity has held high.. Certainly very fresh and re-freshing to drink with a nice floral nose, it does not do enough for me this vintage as in previous ones where it was my house rose during the summer. Or is it that I've had too many Garrus in the mean time.....big price diifferece between the two.

First blush of the year. The price on this wine has risen much over the course of the last few years and I think it is only due to the desire to be priced closer to the other premium level roses....

Nonetheless, this is a nice rose, refreshing and well structured, nice cut to the acidity but lacking the depth of this more pricey competition. So stuck in a very uncomfortable situation between a cheap and cheery $6-10 rose and the stalwarts are $40-50. Not convinced anymore

This is not a cheap rose. This is a fantastically expensive rose when you consider that many good roses can be had for $10. Of course, more famous roses like Ott amd tempier nowadays are allocated items and cost around $50. But this still takes them all, a $100 Rose.

This should not be real, given how people make roses, but this is not a standard rose. Given time in oak, this drinks more like a white burg. The nose is elegant and the color is almost colourless for a rose. a hint of salmon really, but the texture is just oh so creamy, and the minerality will have you wondering what you are really drinking. If put against a nice white Burg, then this is not so crazily priced but as a rose, this is certainly a bit of a treat. Lovely though, I wish I could afford more but apparently this is the monaco yacht set's preferred drink.

I love Domaine Tempier and I had wanted to try to see what happens to this wine with a bit of age.

So one year into the experiment and I opened two of three bottles...so much for the experiment. (i still got one bottle each of the 2009 and 2010).

The wine is in great shape, still very fresh, texture I think has become a bit smoother, more lush perhaps, (less crisp), but overall, still tastes like a new release. Fresh strawberries, good structure, lovely sipper....two bottles went in now time...

2012 Masciarelli, Rosato Colline Teatine, IGT ($11.99, Alcohol level 12.5%). Although from the same region, this one is lighter than a Cerasuolo. Never-the–less it is a delightful wine. It has a deep rose color with bright notes of rose petals and raspberries on the nose and upfront. In the middle were crispness, more berries, and some tart cherries. All followed by a lovely finish.

We matched it with penne in basil pesto, broiled Italian sweet sausages with fennel bulb, and sliced tomatoes. Yum!

This should be chilled cold. Lovely strawberries, veyr light fresh, floral, jsut enough structure to hold the wine. Unfortunately not sub $12 but close. Under $20 and I'll buy a few more.
Varietal: Grenache Noir, Syrah

2010 La Vielle Ferme Recolte Rose', AOC Ventoux. Made with Grenache and Cinsault from the slopes of Mont Ventoux. Have not purchased a lot of wine from this maker, thinking of them as sort of French Gallo. However Dan Berger recommended it, so we thought we'd give it shot.

It turned to be a very refreshing wine that goes good with food and could also work solo. It is not completely dry, but neither is it too sweet.

We matched it with Coho salmon steaks grilled over charcoal and pecan chips, napped with Hollandaise to which we had added some Fine Herbs; rice pilaf, and green peas. Excellent Friday night meal.

$11.99 at The Wine Merchant, Raleigh. Stelvin or screwcap. Labeled as 13% alcohol by volume but seemed liked it might top 13.5%. Quiot family (label mentions 1748--year they first produced wine?) is located in Chateauneuf-du-Pape. The 200-acre estate lies at the foot of Mont Saint Victorie near Aix-en-Provence. The wine is a blend of grenache, syrah, cinsault, cabernet sauvignon, and mourvedre.

I'm quite sure I've had this rose' from previous vintages at wine dinners at St. Jacques Restaurant. Salmon-pink color. Label suggests pairing with sushi, salads, pizza and mild cheeses. I had it with pocket pasta stuffed with veal served without a sauce. Flavors of slightly tart red berries along with a citrus influence. Stony minerality firms the texture. Dry wine with a rather lengthy finish. I prefer it slightly chilled as the label recommends. Would buy again.

Tuesday night I opened this wine which proved very refreshing on one of our many 90+F. days in June. From Pinot Noir grapes, listed as 13% alcohol, natural cork. $23.99 plus tax at The Wine Merchant, Raleigh.
Peter Weygandt Selection. Imported by Weygandt-Metzler, Unionville, PA.
Pale pink color. the palest rose' wine I've had this month. The Pinosity, however, comes through on this one. A touch tart, but attractively so. Strawberries on the nose and palate. I would like to try with a spinach, strawberry, and pecan salad which is a great summer salad. It would also be a good match to chicken or turkey--perhaps chicken salad or turkey sandwiches on a picnic or an al fresco lunch. It could also serve as an aperitif before dinner.
I liked it better than the Schug Pinot Noir Rose' and ordered two more bottles for later this summer. I didn't find it to be deep or serious but eminently quaffable (some cellar tracker notes do describe it as having some depth and complexity--maybe with an additional year--but I enjoy it now.)

Dry rose' wine reduced from $9.99 to $8.99 at Harris-Teeter grocery store. 13.5% alcohol by volume. Screwcap. Label recommends pairing with hors d'oeuvres, paella, seafood or chicken.
Coral-pink color; some transparency. On the palate I find red berries and white peach flavors. Very pleasant. Enough acid to balance the fruit. Served blind, I doubt that I could distinguish it as from Rioja. In fact, most rose's would be hard for me to identify by region. This paired quite nicely with baked shrimp in an orange-ginger sauce and yellow rice. I went back to buy more for a church fundraiser since I wasn't able to get more of the Muga Rioja rose'.
I will try either the Tavel or the Reverdy Sancerre rose' next.
