This is Rieussec's 2nd label... (Sauternes)
Is it ready to drink?
Obviously the 1st label isn't, but I'm thinking this may be ready to go.
Have one I'm thinking about opening in the next couple of days (having a guest that likes sweet wine)...

I've tried the 02, which is really nice (lots of pineapple and apricots and honey), but I worry that the awesome 01 vintage deserves a bit more time...

please advise!

Wow, nobody touched this one? Something he said? I'm not an expert but I know what I like. We have no objection with drinking Sauternes quite young. I don't find a big difference between a 3 year old and a ten year old Sauternes. Up around 15 I can definitely tell something has changed. The age does nothing like it does to a red from the same county. I can easily taste ten years on any Bordeaux in my cellar. But..... should you drink it? That's up to you. Even a second vineyard from the maker of a Parker 100 for the vintage should last a good long time. If you're not real young (I'm not so I can't imagine anyone is), it could outlast you. You just may not like the taste. I prefer to drink these nectars before they turn copper color. If it was my bottle, I'd welcome the excuse to open and taste it then probably rush back for another bottle or two to "put to sleep".

heh... well.. i might be able to outlast a 2nd label... I'm pretty young

We opened it a couple of nights ago.
It was delicious. Bursting with ripe tropical and stonefruit flavors, plenty of honey and some nuttiness too. Should have taken more notes, but it was the third bottle in a long night. It's more balanced and silky than the 02...

I AM going to continue sitting on the 2001 Suduiraut, though.

Thanks for the reply!
