2000 Tobin James, Charisma, Paso Robles, Dessert Wine ($20 500ml). First tasted this one when we were out there last year. Liked it so much that I sent it to my sibs along with a jug of their bubbly for Christmas. Our bottle came as a bonus bottle with the fall shipment. We have consumed it (ice cold) over the past week, during which time it held nicely recorked in the fridge.

It is made from late harvest grapes from zinfandel, syrah, and chenin blanc. It weighs in at 16.6% alcohol, which is not bad for a dessert wine; not much higher than some contemporary California Cabs. The wine is lovely, loaded with all kinds of fruit; red, pink, and orange non-citrus fruit of every description. We enjoyed it on three different nights with fresh Maine strawberries (the first of the season) with whipped cream. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
