'02 Rabbit Ridge, California, Zinfandel, Barrel Curvee ($9.99 Jason's Ellicott City, MD). 14.4% alcohol. Guess we opened this one a little too soon. There was plenty of lush fruit on the nose and upfront. On the palate it seemed too tightly wound, though it could have been the heat from the unbuffered alky. If we bought another bottle would hold it longer.

Matched it with leftover meatloaf, potatoes, and fresh salad. All just fine for a Tuesday night.

IK,

Thanks for the info, I just bought a case and a half of the 2002 RR Paso Robles Westside Zin at my grocery store Shaws, no less, they had it on sale 1/2 price picked them up for $8 a bottle.

I had one last week to make sure they were not heat damaged then went back for the rest.

I from my recollection I thought the same that it could benefit from being aged a little longer. I do recall a raspberry cherry nose with a jammy raspberry and blackberry body, tannins were definitely present but not entirely over powering.

Overall a very good zin and a steal at $8. I will get my notes out tonight and post on it if I missed anything.

Seems like a solid but not great year from RR

That is a great buy! The PR Westside normally costs twice as much as the California bottling. Look forward to your notes.
