Popped a bottle of this last night... wow, is stuff drinking nicely right now. It is soo smooth... raspberry, black cherry, slight peppery finish without a trace of harshness. I've had this wine several times within the past 2 years and it has never been better. I know that Ridge makes awesome zins, but I still wish that LS LS black label continued to make it's own wine.

As a side note, this is the third '93 zin I've had within the past 4 months (this and Ravenswood Monte Rosso and Belloni/Wood Road) and they are drinking beautifully right now. Even though '94 was a very heralded vintage, I'd be hard pressed to pick a vintage that I've like more than the '93... any thoughts?

Mike -

I liked the '93 Zins quite a bit. And heck, for that matter, I liked '93 accross the board for the most part in California.

But, I'm not sure I'd put '93 Zin ahead of '94 or '97....maybe not even '95. Of course, it bears mentioning that it does indeed depend on the appellation. '97 Zins are however, just AWESOME across the board!
