Good Golly Miss Upton what a zin. At 15.1% alky I expected the same type of heat Bucko experiences when passing a lawyer. There was so much fruit effusing from this baby-doll I thought I was enjoying a lovely claret on the balcony overlooking Red Rock Terrace at 5:30 pm. One of the really superb young Zins of my experience. No knowledge of production or where in the blazes Sadies Vineyard is. I'll try to get more info next week while in Napa. Great juice. 91/90 22 by the box. WW

Hi WW,

Had the 2000 Karly (buget priced) Pokerville Zinfandel this past Saturday. It isn't a keep in the cellar wine, but it was really good, and nicely priced too. It smelled spicy, with a hint of berries. It tasted of a mix of blackberries, raspberries, and slightly spicy. Just thought I'd put my two cents worth in...

Visited Karly Winery last weekend (Day after Thanksgiving). They are situated in the Shanondoa Valley in Amador County California. Very small tasting room, in fact on the door it reads "Yep, This IS the tasting room!" Anyway, really liked their 2000 Warrior Fires Zin. They had an equally good Syrah that we picked up. Asked about Sadie Upton (currently sold out). They will be releasing very soon. If you ever go to visit, plan on driving on a very dusty and dirty road about 3/4 of mile to the tasting room.

Thanks for the report. I think I've seen their Warrior Fires but haven't tasted it.

Thanks for the report ST. My experience with the Karlys' have been extremely positive. Not into bumpy dirt roads anymorst. I'll wait till it hits my friendly purveror. WW
