Shades of 78 Mastantuano Dusi!!!!What a kick-Patootie zin. Plush, zesty, brilliant, fruit-laden bottle. Huge jammy nose that overwhelms even my jaded ole' schnozz. Loaded with strawberry, blackberry, and lotsa berries I can't identify. Great mouthfeel, a solid weighty center and a 4&1/2 lapper finish. OY! Such a Bottle! You don't even realize the 15.6% alc. 92/95 WW

Was it the Dusi Vineyard bottling, another vineyard, or just plain ole? Think I have all the above down the basement, and can get more when staying with them for three nights later in the week.

Popped the '00 Commemorative ($38 in Spring of '03) tonight. One of the best wines ever. The lotsa berries, pepper, and spice had morphed into a perfectly aged out elixir. Even the 15.6% alcohol had joined into the jammy experience. Unbelievable.

We matched it with comfort food which we very much needed tonight. Meatloaf, roasted Yukon Gold fingerlings, and salad with blue cheese dressing. Sigh!

Even the stemware was special. We still have four of six seven ounce tulip shaped glasses with royal blue stems and bases that we bought at a nice place twenty five years ago. My turelove beat me out of three and a half glasses of the wine! So you know how great it was.

A perfect way to celebrate the life of a wonderful man.
