i found out the hard way that this bottling is years away from enjoyable, even after a few hours in the decanter. just seemed one dimensional, offering dark fruit and over time, some chocolate. this really surprised me as the '02 duckhorn was outstanding when i had it in feb. 05. but two years later, the '04 isn't close to ready after the same time frame. it wasn't overly tannic, just pretty darn closed. quite a disappointment. hold 'em if you got 'em.

btw, the '03 pine ridge crimson creek merlot saved the day. er, the night, actually. sure wish i had more of the '01s of that baby left.

I would agree with Newsguy. I took at our notes and they were similar.

Good structure with very reserved nose. Very tight but oak, some bright red and dark fruits with a bit of spice and reasonable tannins. Needs much more time.
