- wondersofwine - 03-20-2005 An older note that I don't think I ever posted. This red blend from the Barossa Valley of Australia is produced by Malcolm and Joylene Seppelt from Pinot Noir and Shiraz. 12.5% alcohol. It was a dark, dense, inky purple color with some magenta at the rim. A nose of dark fruits suggested Damson plum, prunes and dark berries. On the palate it presented a ripe fruit bomb of dark fruits. Not my style. Some sediment in the last glass. I drank it with sloppy joes on potato buns toasted under the broiler and Ratatouille. - winoweenie - 03-21-2005 Sounds delish WOW. The wine should have been okie-dokie. WW - Innkeeper - 03-21-2005 Really can't see that blend working. Pinot is too cantakerous to sleep with Syrah. - wondersofwine - 03-21-2005 Yeah, I thought it might be a Syrah/Grenache blend until I checked further. - dananne - 03-21-2005 I had this one last year, purchased because I wanted to see what the odd blend would produce, but I couldn't find a posted note on it, so I must have forgot. My own records just say "All fruit, a bit tart, but an OK quaffer." I didn't rush out to buy more. |
