With a spicey minestrone soup. Bright ruby color; charcoal and motor oil on the nose. A silky mouthfeel with pronounced bacon fat and more charcoal on the palate, but both subside with air time, leaving overripe fruit with a touch of spice. Long finish. Probably needs a couple more years bottle age to tame the bacon fat. Alcohol content is 15%, and Costco price was $19.99.

Hot, why would you want to "tame" the bacon fat??? Just serve it with dishes where that will be an interesting addition to the flavor palate....

Have it for breakfast and call it bacon fat and eggs...

More importantly, that Costco price again. A good Amarone at $20 in this country is certainly a good buy. If Costco came to NYC and did this, I would have to take a job with them.

The bacon fat actually merged pretty well into the minestrone. It was almost like tossing a few chunks of sausage into the soup, which isn't a bad idea anyway.

I don't see $20 Amarones in this area ....always $40+...that's what got my attention.

I just found this for $25. I take it is ready to go?

SW, as mentioned above, I think it needs a couple more years of bottle age. But it should work fine if you take into account its flavor profile when planning a menu.
