Last night, with leftover Christmas hams & sides; beautiful bright red, wonderful full nose, but quite tannic on the palate. Much too young but wanted a data point. Christmas gift from D last year, from Costco, $74.99 (gag!), 14.5% alc/vol. Will sit on the remaining two for a few years, or until I'm bound for a nursing home.

How many times I gotta tellya? Fifteen years on a well made Brunello.

Yeah, yeah, I know..... but in another 9-10 years, my taste buds could shrivel up and fall off.

About those taste buds...I was wondering just last night if that's happening to me, or if the 1995 Villabellini Amarone that I remember having been deep and lush six years ago, had lost its luster by last night when I opened the last bottle to find it pleasant but on the thin side.

See there? We just never know when those suckers will start droopin'.
