1995 Arciero, Paso Robles, Nebbiolo ($10.00). Inky red color reminding me of a gladiolus variety my father used to grow called Negus. Red cherries and berries on the nose and upfront, along with some perfume and licorice. Boldly structured with spice and a little oak on the palate. Lingering finish. Full bodied, but not overblown at 13% alcohol. More like a Spanna or Ghemme than one of the more muscular Piedmontese. A drop dead great value that is still available.

Married nicely with a grillpanned ribeye steak, in the usual manner; accompanied by a tossed salad with a healthy and bulking up load of avocado.
