Desperately looking for a bottle(s) of Sassicaia Wine. I understand this wine made once a year. If anyone should know when this occurs or where I might obtain a bottle(s) I would appreciate it.

Just how desperate are you? K&L wine merchants (klwines.com) currently has five bottles of '86 Sassicaia for sale at the "bargain" price of $275 apiece. If that's too expensive, or if you want a bottle of the 1997 vintage (great all over Italy), patience is advised. '97 Sassicaia has not been released yet; I'll try to find out when it does get released. In the meantime, look to other Super-Tuscans. Sassicaia is made in Bolgheri, near the coast, of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cab Franc. Wines such as Brancaia (I had a bottle of the '93 recently, and it was quite good), Fontalloro (I had some of the '87 about a year ago, and it was surprisingly good for an indifferent vintage), Sassalloro, and Summus (made by Banfi and in wide distribution) should satisfy your thirst for Super-Tuscans. Cab Francs from the North of Italy (specifically Friuli) should satisfy your thirst for Italian examples of this particular grape. Castelcosa is a terrific producer, but there are many from which to choose. And if you're still dying for something by Mr. Antinori, and there is no Sassicaia in sight, pick up a bottle of his Chianti!
