This inexpensive red wine retails for about $5.99 to $9.00+. 9% alcohol Translucent. Dark rose color tending towards red-violet. Served well chilled on hottest days of the year (heat index of 110 F. so I know whereof Georgie speaks). Pleasant nose of purple grapeskin and dark berries. Refreshing quaffer. Slightly frizzante--less than I remember from Riunitie or Contessa Matilde lambruscos. However, I did get a tingling sensation up the nostril one evening.
Fruity, mild wine--not noticealby sweet to my palate but certainly not harshly acidic. I have to confress that I really enjoyed this with a homemade groundbeef/macaroni casserole and with a Smart Ones frozen dinner of Salisbury steak and macaroni and cheese. Bargain wine that hit the spot for a chilled summer wine.
