Hi CCG and welcome to the Wine Board. You can't go wrong with a Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, and it should be easy to find.

If you're a member of Sam's Wholesale, they have one in our area called the Zaccharini I believe.... look for a bottle with a bit of grapevine tied to its neck. Very reasonably priced (less than $10).
(Actually 2001 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo "Cantina Zaccagnini Riserva").
